Our Spokane Trip

Well due to the weather, we never got a chance to go camping, but we definetly got plenty of shopping, gorged ourselves on food that we don't get in GF, had a lot of fun checking out the sights in Spokane, and stayed up too late playing board games and laughing. Here are some of the pictures from our very-much-needed trip! Love you and miss you already Frank, Jackie, Shelby, Shae and Rupert(dog)!!!! I will have to do this in two separate blogs, since you can only upload 5 pics (or my computer is just goofy!)

Our Spokane trip

When you read Jackie's blog(with my list of other bloggers), she says that she doesn't get all of the hype. But in Krispy Kreme's defense, she didn't get to try one right off the belt (we missed it by a half hour)! Hope you got all of the frosting out of Shelby's hair!!!

Flashback Friday-For my Jackie!

Ever since a bold, loving woman turned around and handed her business card to a scared, young, new mom sitting behind her at church, life has never been the same! For those of you who know my surrogate sister, Jackie, you will know that she is the funniest, quirkiest, loving person I have had the honor to be friends with. Jackie and I have shared so many wonderful memories, the good, the bad and of course the sassy! (inside joke: Carhart jeans, HA!) I am putting my Friday post up today because Jesse and I are loading up the car and are going to spend Memorial weekend up in Spokane with them! I truly consider her a part of my family and get so excited to see her! And just to let you know she reads all of your blogs, eventhough she doesn't have one! (Ha Ha, told on you!!!) But I love her children like my own nieces and will always consider her family! These are pictures of her:

(the joke is, that my oldest sister(on the right) put her hand on my middle sister's butt and we all got the giggles!)

Sassy Shoe Thursday-Ready for Summer!

Ok, I'm ready for Summer to come!!! I had the day off of kiddies yesterday, so I spent the afternoon searching for my summer shoes(actually I was supposed to be looking for Colton!). I tried Target, Old Navy, and finally found these little beauties at Famous Footwear. (They are having a buy one get the second 1/2 price, on top of their screaming deals!!!) Since Colton needed some sandals, I figured how could I let this opportunity of half price shoes go to waste! I tried really hard to go with something a little more sassier, but none the less, I chose comfort!!! They will be very comfortable when I shop for a sassier pair! Hee Hee!

Not much going on!

So I'm really trying to discipline myself to put up a new post before I check everyone else's. Because I feel guilty when I am disappointed that nobody else posted anything new, but neither have I, so...
I really don't have any new pictures or anything significant to write about. My quilt for Colton got put away a week ago because we had people over for a couple of nights in a row and I really didn't have the time to indulge it, but now it is back on my table waiting for me to put it together. I have a goody package all ready to send to Colton except that I want to do a video of me and Jesse reading books and send the books in the package (except for a few keepsake books that I don't want lost). But the one time I had it all set up to tape (day before Mother's Day) I started to get all emotional and I didn't want to start crying in the middle of a story! I am laughing at myself right now, so it's OK if you are too! But I just need to do it. I know he will really like it. He likes it when I read him stories over the phone, so this is even better! This is a great thing for bonding across the miles (hint: Amber you can have your mom and family do this for Judah) and whenever he is lonely for mom and Jesse, his dad can pop in the dvd and get his fix! So that is my little project. I just have to get it done and send to him!!! Seven more weeks!!!
Here's a funny picture just in case you forgot what a goofball he is!!! I am told that he was very excited when he realized he could see underwater!

Flashback Friday-Colton in the sink

This photo has become one of our familys' favorite. It was taken about a year ago when Jesse and I were remodeling the house. The bathroom was completely torn apart and Colton was afraid of taking a shower, so we improvised. He thought this was the funniest thing.
I love how he is bold, silly, and just lets you know exactly how he is feeling. Colton reminds me to enjoy what is going on at the moment. He trusts and has security in the fact that he will be taken care of. He wasn't worried if he was going to get a bath that night, but he was pleasantly surprised when he got to do this. I forget that God is going to take care of me and usually surprises me in the way that he does. I'm glad that I can have security in Him and know that I am loved. "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans for hope and for a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Flashback Friday-Tribute to the hard working hubbies

As I was looking for a photo for flashback friday, I came across some photos from demolition for the new Gen Center and found some pics that you might recognize. (Really I don't have many old photos...I have to find a scanner.) I don't remember exactly when I took these, but it was really cold that day and it was when LB and Jeremy were still here and Dan & Amber were here! Anyway, here's to those hard workin' hubbies!

Sassy Shoe Thursday-Summer's Comin'

Well, whether I like it or not, summer is on it's way. Which for me it' s time to get out of my winter exercise "hibernation". So for my contribution to sassy shoe thursday is this spunky pair of running shoes. I know for me it is really hard to get motivated to go running and I'm usually wearing sweats and a grubby t-shirt, so the right pair of running shoes (especially when they're spunky) can give me that extra boost! I really like this pair because they look really comfortable and also because (as I mentioned before about my usual running attire) they are an amazing lightning green color! Just looking at these shoes makes me want to grab my grubby shoes and start hitting the pavement! My second motivation to get back into my exercise is that in a month I will be traveling to Kansas City to visit family. If you have never been to the midwest in the height of summer, I can tell you that due to the humidity, the only relief from the heat is to fully submerge yourself in some type of cool liquid (hopefully you would choose water). Which would require the proper attire...dun, dun, DUN...the dreaded swimsuit. So before letting another month of slugging around go by, I will grab my shoes and re-acquaint myself with a little pavement beneath my feet.

Garage Sale Finds!

Sometimes I forget that God will provide. As you've read in my previous post, I am re-decorating Colton's room. I have been keeping my eye out for a twin bedframe, well on Saturday morning when I let the dog out, down the street they were having a garage sale with a bunk bed/futon combo! It will work great in his small room. I also found a bunch of vintage jewelry! Fun!!! I hope you all are having a great week!

My new Project!!!

So one of my goals while Colton is in Colorado with his Dad, is to redecorate his room. Before we moved in his room was Jesse's office/spare bedroom, so there is a gi-normous bookshelf (filled with books and videos-sidenote:Just to let you know how much of a geek my wonderful husband is, when he was in college he taped EVERY episode of the Simpsons. Which isn't that big of a deal except that if he got even one smidge of commercial in it, he would stop taping and wait until the next episode. And he labeled each tape-not with the episode mind you, but with a number and has it cataloged with a description of the episode-which calculates into many VHS tapes that I cannot throwaway eventhough we have all the episodes available on DVD. I love him). Anyway, the bookshelf is filled and heavy, and there is also one of those 5 foot tall metal file cabinets filled with junk. He still only has a toddler bed, so I wanted to upgrade to a twin. So I know you're thinking, "My what a project Cortney has". But I haven't even told you the finale. I just spent the last couple hours at the two fabric stores in town picking out fabric for Colton's quilt for his bed. I hadn't planned on doing this, the fabric was just calling my name. I didn't even know what "theme" I was going to go with. So after touching pretty much every fabric in BOTH stores and an unmentionable amount of money (yes, Colton will be taking this quilt with him to college), I came up with this:

I know, very "Montana-ey" but I really wanted something that would be more than just a phase(spiderman or batman). Wish me luck, I'll keep you posted on my progress! Oh, and did I mention that I barely know how to sew!?

Flashback Friday-Our first trip

This is a picture of Jesse, Colton and I in Seattle-Fourth of July 2003 (because the time stamp didn't give it away!). This is significant because this was our first big trip we went on together. We were visiting his best friend (and best man) Matt Reed, his wife Terri and their 3 kids (now they have 4). We had a great time and I guess I got the "thumbs-up"! :)

P.S. Look at Jesse's dimples! Hee Hee!

First Sassy Shoe Thursday

So as my first official Sassy Shoe Friday, I am paying tribute to the original sassy lady, Barbie. As a mother of an "all-boy" boy, I have to give credit to Cameron, the little girl I teach, for re-awakening a joy of playing with Barbies. Yesterday we played (really just changed their clothes over and over) with Barbies for almost an hour. I don't know if you're like me, but Barbie really taught me how to coordinate, accesorize and that even if you have shaven hair, ball point pen "make-up" and an ensemble that would be more appropriate on a "working-girl", you ARE the most beautiful woman at the ball! With the vast array of styles, colors, and at a cost of $.50 to $1.00 per pair (according to the site I found these on), I have to say she's got us all beat! So here's to Barbie, work those shoes- as long as you can find a pair, if not, just put on two that sort of look alike.

Flashback Friday- My mom tried!

This is me playing catch up on Flashback Friday. Here is a picture of my two older sisters and I at Christmas time 1982. My poor mother just wanted a nice photo of her little darlings and this is the best she could get from us. I peed my pants (explanation of why I am minus the coordinating tights), not sure why Connie is covering her face, and then my oldest sister, Carrie, with her dress tucked into the front of her tights. I love how hard my mom worked to make us coordinating outfits for every holiday. At the time I hated it, because as my sisters' grew out of their past outfits, I donned them for many years after the magic (and the color) had faded. She was and is an amazing woman and in spite of all of my detours, she and God never let me fall too far off the road. She is a survivor of heartache, cancer, and the 70s! Thanks mom!
